Last weekend we attended my great-uncle's funeral in Dallas. I wasn't sure what to expect when we got there. Before he passed on, he was in Arkansas receiving heavy doses of chemo for the last few months. He was a strong man who battled cancer for 10 years. Bobby and I have been praying for his heart to be tenderized by the Lord for quite some time but definitely praying hard this last little bit when it looked like things weren't going to improve.
The Lord is so good and I'm so encouraged with what happened! My grandma should write out the testimony of his last days, but I'll write my version (Grandma, correct me if I have details wrong). Larry went into a coma for a few days after some seizures, one lasted 45 min, the doctors thought he would be brain dead after that. Sue, Larry's wife, didn't know what to do so she prayed out loud, "Lord, show me what to do!" Sometime after that Larry woke up and said (remember the doctors said he would be brain dead at this point), "Sue, let me go (or die)." My grandma was able to ask him some questions and one was, "Did you see Jesus?" He nodded with a smile on his face!! Wow! Glory to God!
I'm saddened at the loss of his life but at the same time leaping with joy thinking about my great-uncle in heaven with Jesus and ALL the other saints!
Heb 12:1 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great of a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us."
