Forgiveness

We just received Jason Upton's new CD - Glimpse.
This CD is great but one song stands out the most, it's called Table.
I'll try to post the lyrics to it later.
Listen close.  One line says,
"We don't forgive because people deserve it.  
We forgive so we can see again."

God's Promises - Forgiveness

This list is not an exhaustive one,
just a taste of the beautiful thing called forgiveness.
The Lord so easily and delightfully forgives us,
the hard part for us is imitating His example.
I by no means am an expert at it.  I am still a work in progress.

"But He was wounded for our transgressions, 
He was bruised for our iniquities; 
the chastisement for our peace was upon Him; 
and by His stripes we are healed.  
All we like sheep have gone astray; 
we have turned everyone to his own way; 
and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all."  Isaiah 53:5-6

"But now in Christ Jesus, you who sometimes were far off 
have been brought near by the blood of Christ."  Ephesians 2:13

"And you being dead in your trespasses 
and the uncircumcision of your flesh, 
He has made alive together with Him, 
having forgiven you all trespasses,

requirements that was against us, 
which was contrary to us."  Colossians 2:13-14

"Jesus Himself bore our sins in His own body on a the tree, 
that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness - 
by whose stripes we were healed." 1 Peter 2:24
